ANNUAL REPORT 2015
FRASERS HOSPITALITY TRUST
OPERATIONS REVIEW
JAPAN
International arrivals in Japan
continued to grow strongly in
2015, reaching an all-time high
of 12.9 million as at YTD August
2015 (up 49.1% year-on-year).
The strong growth was driven by
the weakened yen as well as the
Japanese government’s continued
efforts to facilitate visa approvals.
Kobe City, as part of the Kansai
region (Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe),
benefited from heightened interest
from regional tourists. Overnight
visitors to Kobe increased 11.8%
year-on-year as at YTD July 2015.
The share of foreign visitors, while
still relatively low at 13.7%, recorded
a year-on-year growth of 71.3%.
For 1H2015, occupancy was 82.7%
and ADR was JPY12,363, up 9%
and 10% respectively. As the Kansai
region becomes more popular
with international visitors and the
build-up to the 2020 Olympics
gains momentum, the growth in
tourists to the region is expected to
continue.
In line with the overall market
performance, ANA Crowne Plaza
Kobe recorded a strong result in
FY2015. RevPAR increased by 11.1%
against forecast driven by gains
in both occupancy and ADR. In
addition to room revenue, the hotel
also increased its share of the MICE
market in Kobe. The strong increase
in trading led to an increase of
12.3% in GR at JPY1.6 billion and an
increase of 13.6% in NPI at JPY1.3
billion relative to forecast.
