ANNUAL REPORT 2015
FRASERS HOSPITALITY TRUST
SUSTAINABILITY REPORT
OUR APPROACH TO SUSTAINABILITY
FHT’s sustainability programme is aligned with the commercial direction of
the FCL Group as well as with the views and concerns of our stakeholders.
Sustainability is managed across the business through relevant policies,
programmes and standard operating procedures (“SOPs”). These are shared
with all employees of the REIT Manager, supported with training and agreed
roles and responsibilities to ensure that we deliver on our business principles
across all of our operations.
Our management approach is risk-based. We periodically review our
policies, report compliance levels and we adjust how we work in the event
of any breach. The REIT Manager also ensures that all new employees are
aware of the policies.
As we travel on our sustainability journey we are observing the changes in
how people live, work and spend their leisure time, and how to enhance
their well-being, productivity and enjoyment in order to maximise
our management of resources such as energy and water. Our aim is
to contribute to local economies where we have presence as well as
workplaces that bring the best out of our employees. More than that, we
want to build a sustainable business.
Deciding On What Matters Most
For the purposes of reporting, we have recently embarked on a materiality
assessment to define what really matters. Led by our CEO Ms Eu Chin Fen,
this assessment involved our senior management and was guided by an
external sustainability consultant. We analysed governance, environmental
and social issues which are central to our business and based the assessment
on the international standards for materiality, GRI and AA1000, and
applied sector specific guidance from the Global Real Estate Sustainability
Benchmark (GRESB) and the GRI G4 Construction and Real Estate Sector
Disclosure.
SENIORMANAGEMENT
ENGAGEMENT
Our CEO Ms Eu Chin Fen
is part of the FCL Group’s
Sustainability Steering
Committee. This committee
is chaired by FCL Group CEO,
and all senior management
executives from each
business unit, including FHT,
are part of this committee.
It meets quarterly to guide
strategic matters, approve
action plans and review
performance related to
sustainability practice. FHT
also has a representative in
the FCL Group Sustainability
Working Committee, which
coordinates the day-to-day
sustainability governance
work. The working
committee focuses on
sustainability implementation
and data management.
OUR MATERIALITY ANALYSIS
We have identified our top ten key material issues grouped under 4 key focus areas:
Where do these impacts occur?
With the exception of labour/management relations as well as staff retention and development, which are internally
focused, all of the above key material issues have an impact on the organisation, internally and externally.
